This day always seems to pass my family by, although we seem to have no problem remembering to celebrate Mother’s Day. Maybe it’s because by Father’s Day we’re already on vacation and that’s a gift in it and of itself. Or maybe vacation makes it difficult to plan things and gather resources as we don’t know where we’ll be or what we’ll be doing (at least my family doesn’t; we’re not much for planning).
Friday Favourites // 05

ONE // Enjoying the in-between
Summer is the best season to lose track of time. It’s the season of perpetual weekends. Who cares what day it is? I’m surprised I even realized that today was Friday. When you’re given this much time and freedom, you’re going to want to use it. So many places to be, people to meet, projects to start. So much planning to do… Perhaps your excitement begins to wane there. The truth of the matter is that you don’t have to be excited to stay committed. But why not enjoy this moment? After all, you’re here.
TWO // 24 hours in Istanbul
It’s finally summer, when wanderlust is at its peak. Some of us are off chasing adventures, and some of us (me) are living life vicariously through the Internet. JacksGap‘s 24 Hours In… vlog series will take you away, and on his blog you can see all the behind the scenes action. His camera is rad. Another 24 hour adventure to check out is Ghost Parties‘ in Iceland, which was actually a stopover on her way to NYC–for no extra cost. Speaking of bargains, this man has figured out how to fly for free. There are still a few months left before summer break is over so it’s not too late to look for ways to get abroad.
THREE // How creating a daily schedule helps me get more done
It’s great to be a dreamer and all–it really is a beautiful thing–but you gotta wake up and get sh*t done. First of all, make sure that what you’re pursuing is your dream and not anyone else’s. It’s okay if your dream doesn’t look the same as the people you’re inspired by. Second, you have to realize that following your dreams is nothing but work. And finally it’s time to get out of bed. Try these 8 tricks to make yourself wake up earlier. Working without a professor or classmates to keep you accountable can be difficult. Nevertheless, give everything you’re capable of giving. Be confident. You can do it.
FOUR // Why you should read as often as you blog
The last Friday Favorites I posted was in January. I’ve been spending the last few days catching up on all 700+ blog posts I missed from the hectic last month of school and now I’m finally feeling inspired again. The flow of ideas is back and I couldn’t be more excited! You may have noticed that I’ve been feeling burnt out, in regards to blogging; the 52 project has become my crutch and I haven’t been posting much else. How can I inspire you if I can’t inspire myself first? Reading other blogs stimulates my creativity and reconnects me to the blogosphere. There are so many things I want to do!
FIVE // S’mores donuts
Are you a Krispy Kreme or Dunkin’ Donuts fan? I’m Krispy Kreme all the wayyy. Exactly a week ago was National Donut Day but there’s no such thing as too many donuts, so here are some more. They’re the perfect way to upgrade a plain ol’ glazed donut into a gourmet masterpiece. If you’re craving something a little more savory, try these cheddar donuts. If you find yourself in LA (I will!), here’s the ultimate LA guide to donuts. Had enough? No such thing. Try these donut crafts.
How has your week been?
This summer I will maybe hopefully…

My summer break basically started May 8 after finals, officially started May 16 after graduation (not mine, I still have three more years), but didn’t really start until May 23 after the retreat. Now I’m 18 days into summer break and I’ve managed to do… nothing. Meanwhile, many of my friends are working, a fact my parents never cease to remind me about. I really did want to apply for an internship or job for the summer, but I didn’t have a resume, at least not one updated since the one I sent off for my college application, and I really did want to put together an updated version, but it didn’t cross my mind until later on when I also had to worry about summer storage, my Chinese visa, and the dreaded finals. I didn’t have very much time to WRITE UP MY RESUME, so that’ll be first on my summer bucket list:
Chapter Camp // 20×52

I’ve left the world outside for this one, and it’s a refreshing change of pace. Despite waking up in a room with nine other girls, I feel at peace. Just a few steps from the porch are towering trees that hide the lake from view. Crossing the bridge, it’s like I’ve entered a secret garden where everything flourishes in harmony, abundant and yet not crowded.
Year one complete // 19×52

Today is my last Sunday at Bryn Mawr this school year! Next week I’ll be at Young Life Lake Champion in New York for Chapter Camp, and the one after that I’ll be back in Beijing. I feel like I’ve been here in Bryn Mawr for forever, but at the same time it feels like no time has passed.
May Day 2015
May Day is an all-day celebration that occurs the Sunday after the last week of classes. The entire college community comes together for a day of medieval festivity and a general good time. [more]
Surprise! I’m still alive. I’ve been done with classes for a week now, but I still feel as busy as ever. Over the past few days I’ve done a presentation, two papers, two interviews, two performances with my a cappella group (you can watch one of them here), and one final exam with two more left to go.
I decided that I’d take this weekend easy and just let myself enjoy May Day. Bryn Mawr is big on traditions, and May Day is most everyone’s favorite, right up along with Hell Week, so I’ve been anticipating this one for awhile now, especially after seeing my friends’ May Day pictures from previous years. I don’t know if I was more excited to join in on the merriment or to take those pictures myself!
Usually I try to keep faces off my blog because I’m too lazy to ask people whether or not they feel comfortable about me putting their face on the Internet, but WOW everyone just looks so beautiful! While I was editing these pictures I was overwhelmed by everyone’s cuteness.
And as it turns out, I didn’t get pictures of much else other than people, so these are the only photos I have to share. This is all thanks to the fact that I woke up this morning and thought, “HMMM… I feel like vlogging May Day!” So my day was spent switching between three different cameras (photography camera, vlogging camera, polaroid). I hope you enjoy the video though! #procrastinationproject
I took two back-to-back naps just now, but I still feel quite burnt out, so I figured since I made a video for this post and since this post is also so photo-heavy, I’m going to skimp out on the writing bit.
It’s starting to feel like summer. Finish off the year strong and then go have fun 🙂 Happy May Day!
PS: check out my first post about winter break ’15 (out of three) from earlier today if you missed it
