I visited Okinawa last winter, whoops. But the weather being what it was, I think that this recap fits well enough into early autumn. My family squeezed this trip in right before Christmas, and it was a wonderful way to make the most out of the sliver of time between the end of my fall semester at school and the beginning of my winter break internship. On our first full day in Okinawa, my dad took me and my brothers on a bus tour (Mom would arrive later in day, delayed by a business trip), and on our second and last full day in Okinawa, the whole family went whale watching. As for the details, I’ll remember as much as I can from the photos I took and the little notes I wrote throughout the trip.
Last days of summer
“We’re going to brunch.” And that was that. Georgina and Victoria woke me from my saving-money-for-NYC-rent-by-being-a-hermit-so-that-I-don’t-get-tempted-to-spend-money-induced stupor and dragged me out of the apartment and into the city for a summer day of food, art, human interaction, and most importantly, more food.
5 hours in DC
Julia has invited me to visit her in DC several times, but we never made conclusive plans. One summer day, she drove up from DC to Philly to run some errands, and I offered her my apartment to stay overnight. Then we got the brilliant idea that this would be the perfect opportunity to take her up on her offer to visit DC, so the next morning, I hopped in her car and hitched a ride back with her from Philly to DC.
(Another) 12 hours in NYC
I made another trip to NYC! Like last time, Kat had an extra Broadway ticket, this time for Dear Evan Hansen. Back when we were roomies, I remember there was a period of time when she would wake up playing the soundtrack, which is how I first learned about the show. And now we would finally get to see it for ourselves! But before the show, I made a stop at The Met. Georgina’s mom Barbara had been inviting us (“the squad”) to visit her at The Met for years (we’ve stayed at their apartment for the last three Thanksgivings!), but I never got around to it. Until now!
12 hours in NYC
Kat had extra tickets to see Harry Potter and the Cursed Child and asked if I wanted to go. I bought a bus ticket to NYC the next day and headed up to NYC the day after that. It was as simple as that!
Waterfront Sessions, Philly
I had hoped to get this post out earlier in the summer so that those of you in Philly would have time to pop by and see this event for yourself if you didn’t already, but the blog got pretty crazy from my trip to Europe! It’s now the last week of August, but nevertheless, here it is!
