I’ve been trying to write this blog post for four months! Tonight I decided, I’m gonna write this blog post if it’s the last thing I do! I started brainstorming different ways to make this lovely little hike at Ridley Park existentially relevant–“not all who wander are lost,” “explore and embrace the unknown,” yadda yadda–but every lead ended in despair–“I am so fucking lost,” “what the fuck is going on,” yadda yadda. (Welp, there goes my mental health.) I got a headache and started feeling pissed off. I just want to show off my photos because I love the light and find it interesting how the three portraits turned out so differently even though they were all taken on the same hike within five minutes!! Why this gotta be so hard??
Leah’s senior photos
I don’t know how I feel being back on campus as an alum. It’s surreal. I’m here, but for once, there’s not anywhere I need to be, not anything I need to do. There’s no stress. The foliage hold their lush summer green. Autumn sneaks in a breeze. A few students mill around. Less than I would expect, but perhaps everyone is inside sick or studying (it’s that season again).
Back here
Every time I passed by these stumps on my way to class, I always wanted to do a photoshoot there. During the last month of college, I finally got around to it. I texted some friends to ask if they would be interested in shooting with me, met up ten minutes before class, lived out our dreams of becoming carefree woodland people, and then ran to make it to class on time.
Nyasa’s graduation invitations
Nyasa hit me up after seeing Azalia’s graduation invitation photos, which I shared on Facebook, and I was so honoured that she liked the photos enough to trust me to photograph her graduation invitation photos as well!
Azalia’s graduation invitations
Azalia got in touch with me about shooting her graduation invitation photos, and I was more than happy to help. And who can say no to a paying gig haha. Previously, I’ve only shot with Azalia during the Bryn Mawr Class of 2018 photoshoot last spring, which was crazy because there were many people to shoot and only one of me, so working one-on-one was a nice change of pace.
Kat x Eggie
Earlier this year, one of my blogging goals was to do a photoshoot a month, and I did pretty well keeping up with it during the first half of the year (spring semester of junior year). However, I stopped doing photoshoots over the summer because I wasn’t seeing very many people, and the people I was seeing, I wanted to spend quality time with and not shoot photos. Coming back to school for senior year, I haven’t been picking up my camera very often, but I’ve been creative in other ways, thanks to the intro design class that I’m taking.
