Just in case you didn’t catch it the first million times I mentioned it in my blog posts, I love bubble tea. So much. When I’m on break and with my family is the prime time to try out different shops, because my parents can drive me around everywhere. Summer break was no exception. At the end of it, my dad asked me what my favourite bubble tea shop was, and I couldn’t say. I just drink and enjoy it man, let me live. But my dad, aghast, said, “I took you to all these places and you don’t even know which one is your favourite?!” So over winter break, I made sure to keep track of all my bubble tea expeditions.
Amore’ Coffee
Today is a lazy day with nothing planned ahead, so why not Yelp a random coffee shop nearby and drive over with Dad? Whenever stuck for blog inspiration, coffee shops are the way to go. So I pack up my camera, a notebook, and something to read, ready for a leisurely afternoon ahead.
Cederberg Tea House & Kerry Park
‘Twas a hot day in Seattle when my search for local coffee shops somehow led to this South African tea house. Well, it wasn’t quite as serendipitous as that. My dad and I had just hiked all the way up to Kerry Park from the bottom of Queen Anne “Hill” (more like mountain), where we parked our car, and I was in dire need of a place to recuperate and refresh. (I don’t know why we didn’t just drive all the way up to Kerry Park; I threw my hands up in the air when I saw that there was a main road that led right up to it.)
Cafe Cesura
With its concrete walls, exposed lighting, and pipes running along the ceiling, Cafe Cesura gives off a very industrial vibe. Voices bounce off the walls and drift up towards the high ceiling. I hang around all afternoon and wait until the final minutes to take my pictures, hoping to get clearer shots with less customers around. The sound of my shutter going off echoes conspicuously throughout the cafe without the sound of the bustling customers around to mask it.
Maan Coffee
Coming here is always such a treat. The excitement I have for this cafe is the equivalent to my excitement for a classy night out with friends at a fancy five-course-meal restaurant. It’s definitely not anything like walking into Starbucks. During my senior year of high school, I’d always treat myself to studying here during finals week (throwback x1 & x2), because there’s nothing like waffles to cheer you on! This Sunday we needed a special place to go celebrate Father’s Day, so I thought, what could be better than a Sunday afternoon at Maan Coffee with my dad and little brother? (he’s taller than me lol)
Milk & Honey Cafe and other city adventures // 10×52
How has your spring break been so far? Or should I say winter break part two? 😛 Spring break for me kicked off with a snow storm, which resulted in the first snow day of this school year. I might plop my snow day photos in their own post later on, but for now you can get a sneak-peek on my Instagram. Anyways, it was a pleasant surprise to see the weather clear up this Sunday, and I’ve been seeing a lot more color, so fingers crossed the weather will keep getting warmer! What a perfect day to explore.
