October was full of small, lovely moments. Of all the months, I wish this one was longest. It’s when everyone first gets excited for the holidays, revving up for Halloween and anticipating Thanksgiving and Christmas. (I’m not big on Thanksgiving myself, but I love the build up to Christmas.) I’ve been reveling in the spooky vibes and spooky books. As far as I’m concerned, November is October Part 2. I’m keeping on with the spooky reads and cosy evenings. Autumn is well and settled; I hope winter bides its time.
I kept up with Rhythm & Flow on Netflix this month, a competitive hip-hop (rap) show. Netflix released ten episodes over three weeks. The judges were TI, Chance the Rapper, and Cardi B. I’m so obsessed with D Smoke’s feature on Miguel’s “Sky Walker.” (D Smoke later won the first season.)
Autumn walks.
Halloween decor around the city.
Shot three outfits in one day with Pri x Paint the Town Chic.
Vanilla cinnamon latte and charcoal everything bagel with lox and cream cheese at The Kettle Black.
Daily dose of Kung Fu Tea hehe.
Inside out s’more at Tuck-Ins. Roasted it myself over a portable fire and everything.
Shorts tan leftover from summer.
An addition to my jewelry collection: leaf choker from En Route Jewelry x Best Dressed.
Volunteered at book tours for Adam Rippon and Cleo Wade. Adam Rippon was hilarious and now I really want to read his new memoir, Beautiful on the Outside. Also, did y’all see his Halloween costume?
Boba Book Club meeting with Bomi over matcha lattes at T Cafe. We chatted Born a Crime by Trevor Noah and Maybe You Should Talk to Someone by Lori Gottlieb. Would highly recommend Born a Crime, about growing up in South Africa during apartheid; check out my review here.
Autumn showers. Found the best way to keep myself and my belongings dry.
Latte and shepherd sandwich with eggs, goat cheese, tomatoes, and greens at United by Blue.
Spicy crab crepe at T-Swirl Crepe. It’s my favourite crepe; I like it even more than their matcha strawberry truffle crepe.
Garlic parmesan fries and sweet potato battered corn dog topped with cilantro sour cream and chorizo at Fox & Son Fancy Corn Dogs.
A big, crispy, autumn leaf that I would have taken home from the park if I thought it could survive the trip.
What was your highlight of October? Did you dress up for Halloween?
