☆*:・゚ Got a Lyft to the gym for <$5; usually I get it $5-$7, 3x/wk.
☆*:・゚ I snapped my goggles in the middle of a workout last week, so this week I broke out new goggles and it was an amazing feeling to swim with new goggles that didn’t fog up right away lol… *so this is what it’s like to see underwater*
☆*:・゚ I’ve been swimming 3x/wk since mid January, and I’ve begun to recognise some regulars. When I was resting at one end of the pool during a workout this week, a middle-aged dude two lanes down from me said to me, “I know I already told you this, but you have such a beautiful stroke!”–he complimented my stroke a few weeks ago lol–“I used to train too, but I never swam like that. I have to ask, where did you train??” I told him I swam at an international school in Beijing and he was like, “Ohhh,” as if it all made sense now and in my head I was like, “?? ok then !!” But anyways, it was a nice confidence boost nonetheless. He must really like my stroke to mention it to a stranger (me) twice heh. I wish I could see my stroke on video or something, because I have no idea what he’s talking about. And then I get really self-conscious of my stroke afterward and overthink and forget how to swim. Anywho, maybe I should try to befriend this dude or something… Is this ? how ? people ? make ? friends ?
☆*:・゚ On Tuesday night I was suddenly inspired with an idea for a vlog. I frantically texted Victoria about it, we made plans that night and wrote out an itinerary, and then went out to shoot it the next day! This is what I feel like I should be doing to make the most of my time unemployed[/freelancing??]: coming up with ideas and bringing them to life right away, not having to wait for the perfect time or for when I’m “less busy.” I have all the time in the world and the best time to do anything is right away!
☆*:・゚ After shooting all Wednesday, I spent all Thursday afternoon editing, and I finished it! I was soooo excited and couldn’t wait to show Victoria and my roomie Georgina. Victoria ended up popping by Chinatown for bubble tea and then coming over with the delivery, just to watch my 2 minute 30 second vlog! ♡♡ I’m so excited to share my vlog with y’all when I publish it on Wednesday!
☆*:・゚ When Victoria and I were planning our itinerary on Tuesday night, we were considering whether we wanted to shoot on Wednesday or Thursday, as they were the two days of the week forecasted with no rain. We ended up choosing Wednesday because I couldn’t wait, and I’m so glad we went with that, because it turned out to rain on Thursday, and that would have been difficult to vlog in.
☆*:・゚ Besides watching my vlog on Thursday night, Victoria, Georgina, and I also got to talking about Miley Cyrus at the Met Gala and how she maybe dressed up as Hannah Montana, which would be so camp if it turned out to be true?? This devolved into a conversation about how Hannah Montana was almost named Alexis Texas, and then we spent until 1AM deliriously thinking of name + state combinations that rhymed. I think our most successful idea was Joy Illinois, and Frances Kansas was a favourite as well. I have all our ideas logged on a Notes app; it was serious business.
☆*:・゚ After my Friday morning swim, I spontaneously met up with Louise for lunch at Shake Shack before she would be off for summer break the next day. When we got to Shake Shack, we found out they had a Game of Thrones menu collaboration featuring a Dragonglass Shake–“minted white chocolate custard topped with shards of Dragonglass” (toffee)–which we got to share. The dragonglass left blue streaks on the shake where it touched, which was cool. Upon further research, I found out Shake Shack also had a Dracarys Burger available at a different location in the city. I’m considering getting that (take-out) for next week’s episode of Game of Thrones–the final episode!
☆*:・゚ Saturday was filled with shopping and friends. I checked out United By Blue‘s warehouse sale with Bomi, Connie, Malini, and Miranda, and I bought a copper tumbler for $10, a bauble hat for $10, and two bandanas for $10 (together). Afterwards I went thrifting with Bomi and Connie at Philly Aids Thrift, and I bought a book, a wicker tray with leather handles, a large decorative ceramic bowl, and two small decorative dishes for a total of <$8! So satisfied with my haul.
What was a bright spot in your week?
Got any name + state rhyming combinations alternative to Hannah Montana?
