☆*:・゚ Watching the final season of Game of Thrones with friends. Georgina and I have been inviting Victoria over to our apartment on Sunday nights for dinner over GoT, using Victoria’s boyfriend’s HBO account. Last week we had Chipotle, and this week (yesterday) we made tteokbokki. We also had strawberry shortcake to celebrate Georgina’s birthday.
☆*:・゚ Scrolling through Twitter and Reddit with Georgina and Victoria after watching GoT episodes. Love the GoT-without-context recaps! Last week in a phrase was, “Blue eyes!” This week in a word was, “Milk!”
☆*:・゚ Swam 100 free on 1:25! I haven’t trained in so long that I don’t remember what a good pace for training is anymore, but when I started swimming again in January, I was swimming 100 on 1:40. My next target is 100 on 1:20, but I still need to work on being able to keep up 1:25 for at least 5×100.
☆*:・゚ Finally swiped up my own copy of Little Fires Everywhere by Celeste Ng. Found it at my favourite used bookshop, Book Corner, for $5 in basically new condition and hardback. I read the book back in the beginning of March–borrowed from the library–and it became one of my all-time favourite contemporary books, so I was keeping my eyes peeled for a discount copy to own.
☆*:・゚ The supportive comments and texts I received since sharing my last blog post. Thank you for all the positive vibes. It’s been a comfort to know that many of you have experienced similar seasons in your life and have gotten through it, or are going through it right now, too.
☆*:・゚ Celebrated ice cream weather with a free custard cone from Franklin’s Ice Cream Bar. Grateful to live in a city with amazing local businesses that create a sense of community. That being said, I didn’t go to this event with anyone; I just took myself over because I wanted to! I’m an independent woman who gets her own ice cream!
☆*:・゚ Caught up with Lamei over lunch in Chinatown during her lunch break. Grateful for friends who make time for me in their busy schedules. I loved how casual our plans were–slipped into her lunch break. When there’s a will, there’s a way. Not every meet up has to be a fancy dinner or hip cafe.
☆*:・゚ Trekked over to H Mart with Victoria for groceries, and finally got my fill of freshly made hotteok, which I hadn’t had for months.
☆*:・゚ Saw Tom Odell with Louise! I have a short post going up on Wednesday about it.
☆*:・゚ Louise and I caught up over dinner at Cry Baby Pasta before the show. I’m so happy we’ve managed to keep in touch, even though we only ever took one class in school together!
☆*:・゚ Caught up with Bomi and her boyfriend over lunch at Pho Xe Lua Viet. I had pho, and more importantly, I had fresh Vietnamese coffee for the first time in a long time! Usually I only ever pass by Vietnamese restaurants in the late afternoon when I’m out and about in the city, by which time it’s probably best that I don’t have coffee. I’ve mostly been having instant Vietnamese coffee at home in the mornings. Anywho, I’m grateful that Bomi and her boyfriend don’t mind me third-wheeling during their precious time together. Bomi is so good about seeing friends regularly and I aspire to be more like that.
☆*:・゚ I finally bought a stem of baby’s breath–for $2.70 including tax. Is that a good price? I’m not too hung up about it though, because in the scheme of things, $2.70 is a low price for a stem of baby’s breath that will last me an eternity since I’m planning to dry it out. Just curious. I’d been wanting baby’s breath to bring spring into my room. Just kidding, I mostly just wanted it for my bookstagram hehh. I’ve been using dried lavender as a prop, but I need some variety.
What was a bright spot in your week?
