My favourite posts were all published during the second half of the year, post-grad. I suppose that it’s because I’ve had a lot more time to think, resulting in more posts that I’m proud of. Or perhaps I’m simply in a different headspace now than I was before, so the newer posts resonate more deeply with me.
Furthermore, half of my favourite posts were published during Blogmas. Part of it may be because of the excitement of the holidays, but I think it’s mostly because the daily search for inspiration led me to some good ones.
Anywho, without any further ado, here are my favourite posts of 2018 in chronological order:
South Jazz Kitchen // The first few months post-grad, I closed myself off because I didn’t want to get into social situations where I would have to talk about myself and be faced with how directionless I felt. But despite wanting to be alone, I found comfort in catching up with friends over brunch.
Back here // Summer passed and soon it was time for the next school year to start without me. Looking back on a photoshoot I did during my last semester of college felt surreal. This many months out from graduation, I didn’t get as far or achieve as much as I thought I would and should have. I felt stuck in one place. But I found a journey in it.
5 things to do in Vancouver // I needed a break and the perfect opportunity presented itself. My dad was going to visit my brother in Vancouver after a business trip, so I decided to tag along. It felt rejuvenating to be seeing the world instead of hiding away in my apartment and in cafes working on job applications.
Moving into my second apartment // Summer and autumn was full of back and forth decisions about the next chapter of my life. When I decided to stay in Philly, I felt like I finally had something anchoring me and could more easily trust that everything else would fall into place eventually.
To nowhere in particular // Every day I realise more and more how true it is that life is a journey. Skating in circles at Dilworth Park, and being pretty bad at it, showed me that again. I had so much fun that day!
Another way to build a habit // Around the holidays and going into 2019, many of us set lofty goals for ourselves. Some fail. An article in the New York Times reminded me to not be so hard on myself; it came at just the right time.
And that concludes Blogmas! Merry Christmas y’all!
I’ll see you in 2019 with a December recap and some annual recaps!
