This past week was my week back from spring break. With all the prep I had done over spring break in anticipation for the week back from it (and in anticipation for the rest of the semester as well), I thought that the week back would be a breeze, but it turned out to be exhausting because I hadn’t properly recovered from my hustle. On Monday and Tuesday I was dozing off in a few classes, but thankfully we had a snow day on Wednesday, which I spent inside my apartment and took three naps. It was just what I needed!
College
In my Art of the Web class at Penn, we were having a discussion about design, technology, and ethics, and it was a very frustrating conversation. The professor seemed to notice that there was something unsettling me about it. After class, the two of us chatted about it for awhile, and it was very cathartic and comforting. All I have to say is that I’m very thankful for my liberal arts education at Bryn Mawr/Haverford/Swarthmore, and I’m also thankful for my professor at Penn for trying to introduce some of that thinking in our class.
Georgina and Victoria, two of my closest friends in college, are in a K-pop dance group on campus called Choom Boom, and they had their showcase over the weekend! At the end of the showcase, the two of them were surprised by their “Choomies” with a video, which compiled clips of Choomies sharing memories and well wishes for the two of them. So proud of Georgina and Victoria for organising such an amazing showcase and for leaving such a big impact on their team!
Commutes
You know those strips of plastic drapery that are put on doors to maintain the interior warmth, rather than just having an open door? Well, at the train station, someone walking in front of me held the drapery open for me so that it wouldn’t drop back in my face. I was very thankful. Usually people are in a rush and just let the drapery flap back, smacking the unsuspecting person behind them. I’ve come to accept it as a part of life and usually walk through those things with my forearm in front of my face.
The SEPTA train ticketer brushed snow off the platform before we got off. Like, he got off the train first, told us to wait a sec, then he used his feet to clear a way through the snow for us, and then invited us to get off. The chivalry!
Food
I’m addicted to Trader Joe’s “soft & juicy” dried mangoes.
I watched the first episode of Ugly Delicious, which was about pizza, and I’ve been craving pizza ever since. I probably won’t keep watching Ugly Delicious though. Nothing bad about the show; I just wasn’t intrigued personally.
Bomi, Delaney, and I planned to do happy hour at an oyster bar in the city, but we left later than expected, so we switched our plans to doing happy hour at a local bar that also had oysters, but there were too many people when we arrived, so we went to a different for happy hour and got margaritas (I just sipped on theirs, as I don’t really drink). Then we ordered Domino’s and went back to my apartment to eat and watch Criminal Minds. Funny because Bomi sent me this meme earlier in the week: “What I’m gonna do tonight: Cancel plans and watch murder shows at home.” #ME
Domino’s has dang good crust.
How was your week?
