I remember that when I was drafting my favourite posts of 2016 last year, there were blog posts that came to mind immediately. But this year, I had to do a little more hunting to find my favourite posts. Although I’m generally happy with most (if not all) of the blog posts I publish, there wasn’t any one that I was especially proud of or that meant something especially deeply to me, except for one. I think I’ll need to do something about that this upcoming year.
January lately // This was my favourite post of the year, no competition. I wrote it all the way back at the beginning of January. Maybe it’s a little sad that I wasn’t able to “top” that post since then. I think what I like so much about this post is that it feels like an “old school blogging” sort of post. It was a stream of consciousness, but was artfully organised. This past year, I think I’ve unintentionally focused on the bigger things or would write about experiences in review, and that sort of writing, though includes a lot of information, loses intimacy.
Blue // This blog post was part of a weekly photography challenge that I had only done for two weeks. For this particular one, the challenge was to find blue things to photograph. What I like about this post is the creativity, the variety of places in which I found blue, and the memory of my family joining in on the treasure hunt.
2 days in Cambridge // Travel posts are one of my favourites — so many new sights, eats, and memories. The challenge is to continue to find this wonder in my everyday life. That, or I need to find a way to fund a lifetime of travels haha. Over the summer, I had a whirlwind trip through Cambridge, London, and Paris, but of the three, my post on Cambridge (and also my experience in Cambridge in general) was my favourite. The atmosphere and pace of life made me feel so full and at ease.
Some honourable mentions in chronological order: Lokal Hotel, PHLBloggers collab, One Shot Coffee, DIY Studio Ghibli inspired music box, United By Blue.
What was your favourite post (of yours) of 2017? (Last year I asked “what was your favourite post of 2016,” and y’all replied with your favourite posts of mine, God bless your souls. I felt a little full of myself haha, but I’m always floored by your support!)
