When I headed out into the city for a coffee shop to work at for the afternoon, I was actually looking for Square One Coffee, but upon arrival, I discovered that it was closed on weekends. Probably shoulda double-checked before I left the house… But oh well, not a big deal. I pulled out my phone to Yelp (honestly, sponsor me!) a nearby coffee shop and found Peddler Coffee, which I quickly fell in love with. At the door was a little chalkboard promoting their special flavours, of which I chose the lavender london fog, but was also tempted by their apple cider and clove cardamom latte.
As if I wasn’t already sold by those fancy flavours, their interior decor… man… Obsessed! That’s all I have to say! I love it! They had cute lil pumpkins everywhere, copper gooseneck kettles filled with plants, exposed brick, huge window-walls, and cool shaped wood tables (I can’t think of a way to describe it other than “raw” lol). And they played great music! Totally my vibe. I loved the rustic, autumnal feel of the interior. I wonder how they decorate for other seasons. Definitely pop by for a visit before autumn ends though! *I say this as I publish this post weeks late and the weather is gradually transitioning to winter*
I think it’s funny how I always swear that autumn is my favourite season, but then it arrives and I remember that it’s always raining, which I despise, and I rediscover that I never learned how to layer probably (always too many or too few layers!). It turns out that my favourite thing to do during my favourite season is to hide from it. To stay indoors and cosy up with hot beverages, baked goods, and candles.
If I’m indoors all the time, that means regardless of what the actual season is outdoors, I could celebrate whatever season I wanted indoors, right? Am I suggesting a perpetually cosy indoor autumn?? I’d be down for a perpetual indoor Christmas too. Although I guess if I’m being real, when I’m coming inside to find shelter from a hot summer day, I won’t have the patience to wait for my body temperature to cool down and then warm up with the cosy indoor autumn.
So I think it’s valid for me to say that autumn is my favourite season even though my favourite thing to do during that season is shelter myself from it indoors. You know what I’d really love?? A cosy nook by the window so that I could enjoy the weather without having to endure it. (These three GIFs are window nook goals: one two three)
