I was in the city and had an afternoon to kill before meeting friends for dinner, so I Yelped a cafe to be productive at and found J’aime French Bakery. It was marked as “hot and new” on the app, which inspired me to hurry my ass over and snap some fresh content for y’all. (Can Yelp sponsor me??)
The shop front has huge glass doors that open out, letting in light and the bustling energy of the street. I love how the interior and exterior merge in this way. I snagged a seat in the shop by the front and felt like I was in a Parisian sidewalk cafe, complete with a lil pot of Anastasia black tea (which came with a baby merengue on the side) and a heart-shaped Napoleon pastry. I don’t usually treat myself to decadent desserts at cafes, but it wasn’t expensive and it was so cute and I needed a little something extra to pull me through the afternoon anyway. The shopkeepers probably would have been annoyed if I took up a whole table for the whole afternoon and only got one pot of tea. But actually, they were so kind and brought my tea over to my table and everything. I’m not used to this kind of service in a little cafe?? Other notable things on their menu are crepes and La Colombe draft lattes.
Another cute thing about this cafe is their bathroom?? There were two wall clocks in their bathroom–one for Philly and one for Paris. And there was also a string of photos (and if I remember correctly, of Parisian scenes), and in between each one was a fun trivia fact related to bathrooms. One of the facts was the percentage of people who crumple their toilet paper versus fold it. I recall that the percentage for crumpling was higher but that seems wrong so maybe I remembered incorrectly?? I just Googled it and I think the number of people who fold their toilet paper doubles the number of people who crumple. What do you do with your toilet paper? (I fold mine.)
Anyways, J’aime French Bakery is a cute lil cafe with a beautiful interior, beautiful pastries, good light, good for working, has outlets for charging, and great service. What more could you want?
