When this post goes live, I’ll have just boarded my plane to Europe! As I was packing the night before, I thought it’d be fun to take a quick snapshot of what clothes I’m bringing for my 10 day trip because I never share this kind of inventory stuff. Nothing deep here. (Please excuse the dim lighting. As I said, it only struck me to do this as I was packing the night before.)
I didn’t bring any nice clothes back with me from Philly to Beijing, because I thought I’d be spending my whole summer in Beijing at home. In the past, I had always packed at least two nice dresses for the summer and maybe some other nice stuff, but in the past I had never actually worn any of the nice things I brought back, so I decided not to bring any back with me this time. Little did I know that I would have this upcoming trip. Of course, the one time I wasn’t prepared was when I needed to be. So, I spent the day raiding my mom’s wardrobe for what was lacking in my suitcase.
Camper sandals // I swiped these from my mom for the trip and I might bring them back with me to Philly as well. They have a slight heel, but everything I’ve worn from Camper has been super comfortable, so I’m hoping that this will be fine for walking all day. I didn’t pack my sneakers, so these will have to do. Even if I packed sneakers, I would have had to pack these sandals anyway to wear with the blue dress. I didn’t want to bring two pairs of shoes, so I went with the sandals.
United Colors of Benetton top // This was a hand-me-down from a family friend back when I was still in elementary school, but I still love this top as much as ever. I find the stripes and boat neck super classy, and I love the fit. I don’t wear this top as often as I’d like because I don’t like having to shave, but I can totally keep my pits bare for ten days lol…
Madewell top // One of my favourite basics in my wardrobe. Easy to wear. I love mustard.
Abercrombie & Fitch girlfriend jeans // I decided to have one pair of long pants for travel days on the plane, and for any cooler days that might pop up, which would be an honest miracle. Maybe I’ll only wear these jeans to the airport, but I think it’ll be worth it, since my flight (including transfer) will be 12+ hours each way.
Loft shift dress // I bought these cheap from a friend back in middle school and never wore it. Although my style has definitely changed over the years, I don’t think this dress was ever my style for any phase of it. It’s a little too preppy for me I think. But desperate times called for desperate measures, so I gave this dress a try when I found it in my wardrobe at home, and found that it actually fit me quite well. For me, this dress is considered dressing up, but I feel like for a lot of other people (or some other people) (or at least for fashion bloggers) it’s considered smart casual. So hey, I’ll pretend I have it together for an outfit.
Cello denim shorts // Random denim shorts that I bought many years ago from either TJ Maxx or Marshalls. Also my only pair of denim shorts?
Rookie-Bud dress // I swiped this from my mom as well. Rooke-Bud is a Korean brand; maybe you knew that but I didn’t (I’ve never heard of Rookie-Bud). The dress is a highlow dress, where the high is about the length of a midi dress, and the low is about the length of a maxi dress. Despite the amount of fabric, the weight of the fabric is light. I hope it’ll feel as breathable in the summer heat as it seemed whilst packing from the comforts of my air conditioned room. It’s super loose, which means it’ll be easy to move around in, unlike the Loft shift dress, and it’s more casual than the Loft shift dress. Lately I’ve been drawn to greens.
My family and I will be staying at Airbnb’s, where we can do laundry at, so we each decided to only pack 3-4 outfits for our 10 day trip. I planned 4 outfits–1 to wear to the airport, and 3 to pack. And if I find that I didn’t pack outfits, I can always go s!h!o!p!p!i!n!g! But honestly, with mixing and matching, the clothes I packed will amount to 6 outfits, and I’ll be doing laundry, so that’s definitely enough to last 10 days. Maybe I’m even overpacking?? Idk. I’ve never been great at packing efficiently. I always bring things I don’t need. What do you think?
So this was more of a “what clothes are in my suitcase” post than a “what’s in my suitcase *implying everything in my suitcase*” post, but “what’s in my suitcase” is more catchy, so forgive me. To make amends, other things that I’ll be packing in my suitcase are face masks, essential oils, toothbrush and toothpaste, contacts and contact solution, underwear and bras, no socks (!), hair ties and bobby pins, face wash, lotion, a crossbody bag that I plan to use daily except for when I need a bigger bag when I’m flying, and tampons because my period is supposed to come during the last few days of the trip yay ugh. In my carry-on backpack, I’ll my have laptop, iPad, phone, camera, chargers, earbuds, passport, empty water bottle, folding fan, umbrella, a mini bag of dried apple chips, chapstick, Peppermint essential oil, hand lotion, wallet, sunnies, and tampons in case my period comes earlier than expected.
Yeaaaah this was a spontaneous and simple and probably disorganised blog post with no deeper meaning. But you can look forward to another blog post 12 hours after this one goes live (so it’ll be up on Monday at 10:00AM EST, which is when I usually have a blog post up), so tune in for that! I’m pretty excited about it if I do say so myself.
