Jennifer introduced this cafe to me when I stayed at her place over Memorial Day Weekend last year. As soon as she said it was a Taiwanese cafe, I knew I had to check it out. I miss Taiwanese food so much. I’m only ever in Taiwan once a year, but during those one or two weeks I’m there, I always make sure to visit the night market every night and stuff myself with as much food as I can. Not the healthiest choice, but I will allow myself to indulge in this once a year. Taiwan has the best food, and it’s all super affordable. It would be a crime not to eat it all!
We ordered shaved ice (topped with green bean, herbal jelly, and mango jelly) and popcorn chicken. Jennifer also got the Summer drink from their Speciality list, and I stole a sip. The popcorn chicken was SO GOOD. I felt like I was back in Taiwan! I just wish that this cafe was closer so that I could pop by for popcorn chicken whenever I feel homesick or just have a craving. Or maybe it’s better that Lulu isn’t too easy for me to get to, because otherwise I’d spend way too much money!
Lulu is named after their french bulldog Lulu, who pops by the cafe sometimes. The cafe is decorated with french bulldogs in the form of ceramics, plushies, lamps, and more! The cafe is small, but if you are able to nab a table, it’s a fine place to work. There weren’t too many people when Jennifer and I visited, but I imagine that it could get pretty crowded!
