This coming week will probably be busy with impending due dates, but this past week wasn’t so bad, so maybe this coming week won’t be either. Almost there! Just one more week of classes + one week of finals, then I’m off to Beijing for winter break. It seems like I’m not capable of focusing on anything other than countdowns these days!
- Short-grain rice. When Kat and I first moved in to our apartment, we made a quick trip to a nearby grocery store, and the only rice we could find was long-grain rice, so we got a little bag of it, thinking we’d finish it quickly and then get around to making a trip to an Asian grocery store and getting short-grain rice. Well, we didn’t finish that bag of long-grain rice until last week. But now we can finally start cooking and eating our short-grain rice! Oh I miss its fluffiness.
- Staying inside on a rainy Tuesday. On Monday I had written a note to myself wishing that I could just attend classes from the comfort of my bed, or really, just do everything from the comfort of my bed. Then I got an email from my professor that class would be cancelled on Tuesday, and that was my only Tuesday class, which meant that I got to stay at home all Tuesday! Wish granted. Kat can’t stand being cooped up in the apartment all day, but hibernating indoors is my idea of heaven, or at least in autumn/winter and amidst the chaos of school. I’d like to think that once I’m on holiday, I’d want to go out and about and do exciting things. Anyways, I had a fantastic Tuesday in with the rain pitter-pattering outside and me inside listening to Christmas music and drinking tea by the light of a candle that smelled like warm apple pie.
- Old people who use : – ) Such a curious way to write a smiley face.
- I was feeling annoyed that I had worked on a lab all Wednesday and went to bed thinking I was done, but then it turned out I wasn’t, so I kept working on it all Thursday and didn’t get to do the things I had planned to do that Thursday after finishing that lab. But I should also think about it another way. I’m glad that I kept working on that lab. It feels good to work towards something. Too often I start a lab late, rush to complete it in time, and don’t get the chance to pursue my questions before the due date. Then it’s time to work on the next lab and focus on new problems.
- I placed an order for an accessory for my Secret Santa gift, and was told I would get it by Thursday, December 8, which was worrisome, because our Secret Santa party is going to be on Friday, December 9, and you never know whether or not something will get lost in the mail, but my package arrived early and now my Secret Santa gift is ready to go! I think I’m more excited to give this gift than I am to receive mine!
- I now have access to Netflix?!?!! My bff Sheena hooked me up. She’s an enabler and I love her. As soon as winter break starts, I’ll be Netflixing Gilmore Girls! (btw: I’ve finished all four seasons of Orphan Black. Recall I started this TV show last Sunday. Bad (good?) decisions.)
- An impromptu trip to HMart with Kat and Julia. Love myself some honey pancakes and soondubu jjigae.
- Currently listening to It’s a Fine Day by Billie Marten.
What was the highlight of your week?
I want to make an effort to remember the little joys in life, so my 52 week challenge for 2016 is to write weekly Happy Lists.
