This weekend I was away for HACKMIT, so I’m once again drafting this blog post in advance, and I won’t be able to tell you anything about it until next week! It will be my first hackathon, so I’m quite anxious, but my team is experienced, so they’ll be taking care of me (I hope). I feel like a hackathon is something I’d like to experience at least once in my life even though I’m thoroughly intimidated by them, and since I didn’t take the dive earlier, I figured this would be as opportune a moment as any. When my friends asked me to join their team, I committed without thinking it through, which is the only way I can get myself out of my comfort zone, ya know, before my brain catches up and I realise what I’m getting myself into.
- Victoria and I were grocery shopping in town when we passed by this cute lil old couple, arm in arm, smiles in their eyes, strolling along at a comfortable pace unimpeded by time.
- Happy baristas that make you feel like, at that moment, there is no one more excited to see you order a coffee. Saxby’s Coffee is hiring and I must say that I’ve given it a thought. I want to try working at a coffee shop, but I do think it would be exhausting for me to be perky all the time. Maybe I’ll have to wait until winter or summer break, when I don’t have the stress of school weighing down on me.
- I got a minion sticker and a gold star on my linguistics homework! It’s been years since I’ve gotten stickers and gold stars on my homework, and it’s not because I haven’t been producing good work. I wish all college professors did this!
- I’m so glad that this weekend was the first weekend we didn’t get linguistics homework. It was definitely perfectly timed. I still have to do homework for my three CS classes, but at least I have one less thing to worry about. And I did get extensions for two CS labs, so that’s cool too.
- There’s a wasp’s nest or beehive or something outside our apartment and they keep getting in somehow. I’m guessing through the a/c. But maintenance finally took care of it for us! Not enough days have passed for me to determine whether it’s been effective, but I’m hopeful.
- Currently listening to Fux With the Boy by Young & Divine. Not sure if I like it ironically or actually.
What was the highlight of your week?
I want to make an effort to remember the little joys in life, so my 52 week challenge for 2016 is to write weekly Happy Lists.
